PALESA Releases Afro Jazz Single

Palesa Ndima was born in Vosloorus, East of Johannesburg and was raised by her mother, as her father passed away when she was 13. She started singing at the age of 7 and knew this was her calling in life. Her love of music was heavily influenced by her late father who used to listen to Ray Charles, Percy Sledge and more. Palesa’s love for Jazz Music morphed into a love for Gospel Music as she sang for many church choirs as Gospel leader

After a few years of pursuing other careers, Palesa’s love for music drew her back in and pushed her to re enter the world of music and release a brand new Afro Jazz Inspired album.

The brand new album – Ke Ngwana Mo Afrika is an uplifting album with a fusion of genres, from afro pop to afro jazz and more in between. The debut single off the album is the powerful song ‘Ke Ngwana Mo Afrika’.

Ard Matthews releases his first single of 2017, entitled ‘Wonder Years’, a cross genre offering incorporating elements of Pop, Indie, and Dance, while still retaining Ard’s authentic vocal and lyric delivery that he has become synonymous with. ‘Wonder Years’ was written at a friend’s holiday home just outside of Hermanus, and recorded over the space of a few months in Ard’s now hometown of Cape Town, South Africa. The track features the guitar licks of well known Blues Rock maestro and long time friend, Albert Frost, as well as the combined production talents of Peter Pearlson & Keith Farquharson from A.S.E. Cape Town. Ard plays his 1975 Fender Jazz Bass over the chorus’s to create that old style bounce.

The song ushers in a new chapter for Ard, with him using and evolving current musical trends, while adding a level of authenticity and depth that can only be ascribed to years of experience. The track was debuted as a live performance on the prime-time MNET show ‘Arno Carstens & Friends’ which aired on the evening of the 8th of January 2017, and will be available on all digital platforms from that date.

“Come, let’s get lost, let’s get out of here, let’s do all the things that love inspires. Our hearts desires, through the wonder years.”

New album and single from ‘Robian’

Meerkats Band Photos 003.jpgSinger/songwriter Robian ( a.k.a Robert Ian Pratt ) was born in Hinckley, Leicestershire UK but is now based in Spain’s Costa Del Sol.

Robian started writing songs at the age of 14 and had formed his own band by the age of 16 years being influenced by acts like David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Supertramp , Yes, Cat Stevens, The Who and Mick Jagger and the Stones.

At the age of 19 Robian started racing motorbikes and in the mid 1980’s with the help of sponsorship from Christian Dior and competed in The World Championship 500cc Grands Prix  now known as Moto GP. Robian retired from motorbike racing in 1990 and started racing Formula 3 cars in Spain and the UK but then retired from all forms of motorsport in 2006.

Robian began writing songs and in 2006 influenced by his love for country music he recorded 16 songs in a Nashville, Tennessee recording studio located on the famous Music Row in Nashville.

He says “The CEO of the company came down to talk to me  and gave me a lot of advice and words of encouragement for my songwriting” and the new material was born.

Robian has originally formed a band called “Robain and the Meerkats” but says “I did have my own band about 10 years ago and that’s when I came up with the name of the band ‘Robian and the Meerkats’  but a couple of years later the TV commercials for ‘’ who started using meerkats in their TV adverts started and so I decided to go solo”.

The brand new album ‘Tomorrow Will Be Our Day’ was produced by David Robinson at Paramount studios, Nashville and features the new single ‘Leaving It All Behind’.

2017 has arrived and with it, a whole new wave that is on the rise for Mark Haze who has, for more than 15 years, been working tirelessly on establishing himself as one of the best live performers and musical talents in the country. He has certainly come a very long way since starting his first band, 12th Avenue in 2001 and has since kept the momentum going and growing, bringing it back full circle to his new single, ‘Better Than This’. The song was written with his long-time friend and 12th Avenue band member Bjorn Faree symbolising that Mark has come a significantly long way since their early days.

The single truly describes what many artists experience in the stages of their career, and as Mark notes “Throughout everything I’ve gone through and will continue to go through, I know that I am truly blessed to be able to do what I love to do and have always dreamed of doing every day.”; a sentiment that sits firmly in the hearts of every working musician nowadays.

This South African musician might be best known for his incredibly wide vocal range, but fans are in for a surprise as Mark is also about to reveal that he possesses great versatility when it comes to the style of the amazing music he is able to create. Audiences can certainly expect the unexpected with his latest project that embodies an entirely new sound and feel from this talented singer/songwriter. Mark is back and better than ever before with his new look, sound and single – set to be released soon.

The lyrics, “But I don’t know where I’m gonna go. But I know that I’m better than this” suggest a clear message that ties into Mark’s current stage in life; a phase of new beginnings. Mark is starting on a new journey in his music career and life and regardless of the unknown challenges and obstacles he may still face on the way to inevitable success, he knows that he can achieve even greater things and rise above the disappointments of the past.

There’s a certain undeniable optimism in the air when Mark speaks of the story behind his upcoming new single and says, “While I’m eternally thankful for the platform that Idols and the record label afforded me, I had been feeling for a while that I’d like to experiment outside of my original genre and incorporate other elements besides that of traditional rock; all the while still leaving room for my roots. I found myself in a space where there was a lot of doubt pushed towards me and I knew I had to be steadfast, because there’s more to me than what most people have seen or heard. I ended up writing the track with my old friend, Bjorn Faree, who I worked with in my old band, 12th Avenue, and on my first album, “Where Angels Fear To Fly”. Coupled with the production stylings of Nathan Woodman, I feel like I found the sweet spot between “good old fashioned” and what’s new in terms of experimenting with current styles. The song is for anyone who was told they can’t, and who knew better and persevered.”

Plans for a new tour, new music videos and singles are well underway. Mark and his band consisting of Nathan Woodman (Goodluck, Jeremy Loops) on keys and Mark’s brother, Gareth Haze on drums, have been working tirelessly on bringing to life a new sound that’s sure to get hips shaking and heads bopping. As long as the sun still shines, no one can rain on the Mark Haze parade that has started to unfold.
