Warner Music South Africa proud to be the home

of one of SA’s bright new musical hopes

13th July 2016, Johannesburg – In a buzzing South African music scene Josh Kempen has created a name for himself as an enchanting performer & gifted songwriter, captivating SA’s festival scene with his raspy voice, energetic performances and songs that will get stuck in your head.

“Warner Music South Africa is proud to announce the signing of this truly talented singer-songwriter. We pride ourselves on working with artists that resonate with today’s audiences, whilst being timeless themselves. Josh is the perfect fit and we look forward to working with him,” says Tracy Fraser, MD of Warner Music South Africa.

Previously nominated as “Songwriter of the Year” by SAMRO, he has performed at some of South Africa’s largest music festivals; Oppikoppi, Lush Festival & Splashy Fen, as well as the countries most loved venues with the likes of Shortstraw, Desmond & the Tutus, and Matthew Mole. Josh’s debut EP, the ‘The Midnight Ship’ was picked as a “Top 20 Record of 2015” by SA blog Texx & the City and made “the Fuss List” of 2015. Josh was recently picked by Deezer ZA as an “Artist to Watch in 2016” alongside international breakthrough artists like Leon Bridges & Jack Garrat.

Says Kempen of his signing;  “Warner has a wonderful name, and it’s home to some of the most important music makers around. They bring a lot of value to what I do, but I was definitely first drawn to them because of the team I met. Beyond the brand is a group of approachable people who are clearly experts in their field and are passionate about their work and the artists they sign. It gives their work a lot of power. For me, that makes them a company of people you want to be a part of – it’s really so inspiring for a team like that

GROUPLOVE ANNOUNCE THIRD ALBUM, BIG MESS, TO BE RELEASED ON SEPTEMBER 9TH BY CANVASBACK MUSIC/ATLANTIC RECORDS

FIRST SINGLE, “WELCOME TO YOUR LIFE,” OUT JULY 15TH

BAND TO HIT THE ROAD THIS FALL FOR WORLD TOUR

index

June 20, 2016 — (Los Angeles, CA) — Canvasback Music/Atlantic recording artists Grouplove will release their highly anticipated third studio album, entitled Big Mess, on September 9th. The first single, “Welcome To Your Life,” will be released on July 15th. Watch a trailer for the album, which previews four new songs HERE.

Recorded in Los Angeles and Seattle with producers Captain Cuts (Grouplove’s own Ryan Rabin) and Phil Ek (Fleet Foxes, Band of Horses, The Shins), Big Mess features the signature anthemic choruses and infectious hooks that first brought the Los Angeles quintet to prominence through hits like “Tongue Tied,” “Colours,” and “Ways To Go.” No stranger to the worldwide festival circuit, Grouplove has made an album that brilliantly showcases their richly narrated songs with elaborate production.

“We made this album at an important crossroads in our lives, and it was a dream come true to be able to work with Phil Ek up in Seattle and with Ryan down in LA. We’re extremely excited for the world to hear it!” offered singer/guitarist Christian Zucconi.

This fall, Grouplove will hit the road for their Big Mess World Tour. One dollar for every ticket sold will be donated to the organization charity: water to help fund water projects like drilled wells, spring protections, and BioSand filters that help provide clean water to communities around the world. More info can be found here: https://my.charitywater.org/grouplove/tour. Muna and Dilly Dally will support on select U.S. shows. Please see below for Grouplove’s upcoming tour dates:

Grouplove first came together in 2009 and were quickly hailed for their standout live performances, both as headliners and at such international festivals as Coachella, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Reading + Leeds Festivals, and Glastonbury.  A year after releasing a self-titled EP in 2010, the band returned with their debut full length “NEVER TRUST A HAPPY SONG” featuring a trio of breakout singles – “Colours,” “Itchin’ On A Photograph,” and  the RIAA-certified platinum hit “Tongue Tied” which spent 3 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Alternative radio chart. The quintet’s second full length album – 2013’s “SPREADING RUMOURS” – was met with a raft of acclaim from the likes of Rolling Stone, USA Today, Entertainment Weekly, Los Angeles Times, NYLON, and National Public Radio who called it “ludicrously easy to love.”  As with all of Grouplove’s recorded material, the collection was produced by the band’s own Ryan Rabin, and was highlighted by singles “Ways To Go” and “Shark Attack.”  In 2014, Grouplove contributed the original song “Let Me In” to  “The Fault in Our Stars – Music From the Motion Picture,” the musical companion to the blockbuster film based on The New York Times bestseller. That same year, the band was tapped to create the theme song to the Netflix Original Series “BoJack Horseman.” Last year, vocalist/keyboardist Hannah Hooper collaborated with Volcom for a Lady Grouplove capsule collection of clothing inspired by her personal style and artwork.

Grouplove is: Christian Zucconi (vocals, guitar), Hannah Hooper (vocals, keys), Andrew Wessen (guitar, vocals), Ryan Rabin (drums), and Daniel Gleason (bass).

WONDERBOOM RELEASE NEW SINGLE

Standard

WONDERboom have released their brand new single ‘Great Escape’, the first new material to be released since their 8th studio album ‘The Automatic Shuffle’ back in 2011.

’Great Escape’ is about escaping evil with the one you love and the adventure in solidarity. A classic sci-fi fairy tale of ‘us vs them’,” explains frontman, Cito.

‘Great Escape’ is available on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/za/album/great-escape-single/id1118007281

The single is the first from their forthcoming and 9th studio album, which has not been titled yet. The album was originally in the works back in 2013, but the passing of drummer Garth Mcleod that same year was a massive shock to the band, fans and the music industry as a whole. 3 years later, WONDERboom are back with an incredible single and working on completing their new album which is due for release in October.

Cito further explains, “Every time we work on a new album, we approach the recording process differently. This time around, we made our first demos, work shopped the new songs in the rehearsal space and then tried them out live to get the best feel before deciding on arrangements. We want to really capture our live essence in our new music. Although we’re having fun with production in studio, the songs must be able to be performed without the dependency of production. In other words, these songs must stand on their own legs and be strong – electrically or acoustically. We’ve also really been having fun, exploring new ideas in the way we play our instruments and write songs. We want this new album to represent us as a band. This is also the first studio album with Jonathan Bell (who replaced Garth McLeod in 2013) behind the drums.”

Celebrating 20 years in the music industry, WONDERboom are one of South Africa’s longest standing Rock bands and boast an impressive catalogue of songs which include the hits ‘Never Ever’, ‘Something Wrong’, ‘Jafta Rebel’, along with their legendary rendition of èVoid’s hit ‘Shadows’.

Lasghado’s music is encouraged by the lifestyle in their hometown and surroundings. The group members were all solo artists before they met, performing in local events, school pageants, etc.

We all had hopes of getting discovered, until Mxolisi Nzimande approached Lucky Shabalala and Bongani Sibeko to form a group Lasghado, we were on the same struggle, shared the same vision success. We then decided to take this last train for success “Lasghado”

We have featured our local Pansula dancers who are also based in Tembisa called Tembisa Revolution.

PASSENGER – ‘Young As The Morning Old As The Sea’

Standard

Ivor Novello winning singer/songwriter Mike Rosenberg (known as Passenger) releases his 8th studio album ‘Young As The Morning Old As The Sea’ on Black Crow Records / PIAS (Gallo Record Co.) Sept 26th .

‘Young As The Morning Old As The Sea’ sees Mike Rosenberg once again co-produced alongside Chris Vallejo (INXS, Empire of the Sun), this time at Roundhead Studios in Auckland, a studio lovingly built from scratch by Neil Finn, and also at Linear studios in Sydney.

Written alongside an incredible band of musicians – Ben Edgar (guitar), Rob Clader (bass), Peter Marin (drums) Jon Solo (keys) – the exquisite songcraft and distinctive delivery remain as before; thoroughly down to earth, with the mix of genuine humility and self-deprecating humour that is so evident in his onstage performances.

“I’ve done pretty much an album a year for the last decade,” says Mike, “and the worry is that you don’t live with things for long enough. I know the most recent record is probably always my favourite, but I honestly feel this is the first time I can play the new record to people and not feel obliged to make excuses. I’m so proud of it.”

The ten tracks on the record reflect on relationships and the passing of time, with stories that are at once both personal and universal – none more so than on the stunning new single ‘Somebody’s Love’ – watch the music video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jPqVoaJZWFc&feature=youtu.be

Following the incredible multi-platinum success of ‘All The Little Lights’, which was propelled by the worldwide smash ‘Let Her Go’ (the video is now one of only 25 videos to have ever passed the incredible 1 billion views mark on YouTube), Mike released the more personal and acoustic ‘Whispers’ in 2014 and Whispers II’ in 2015.
