THE LOCNVILLE BOYS ARE BACK

Multi-Platinum South African electro-hop duo, Locnville

set to release their 3rd studio album and their first for Warner Music

‘Taste The Weekend’ due for release 17th June 2016

Johannesburg, 14th June 2016:  Twin brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin (Locnville) are making more musical memories, this time on a global scale with their latest body of work, ‘Taste The Weekend’ to be released through Warner Music South Africa this coming Friday.

Inspired by the sounds of future dancehall and indeed the deep house scene of South Africa, Locnville, alongside such passionate SA talent as Hendrik Joerges and Sketchy Bongo, and proven International hit-makers Esjay Jones (Selena Gomez) & Trey Vittetoe (Miley Cyrus & Selena Gomez) and Narinder Singh (Timbaland), have produced an honest, bold coming of age statement – a cinematic, edgy and mostly upbeat affair with hook-filled new material which will drag fans, new and old, on the next leg of their journey which started in 2009 with ‘Sun In My Pocket’.

Of ‘Taste The Weekend’ Andrew says ‘this record is the perfect amalgamation of all the sounds that you’ve come to expect from us, with of course a bit of experimentation in there too. We focused on making a uniquely African sound with an international flavor, which I think really comes across in this. It’s been almost a year in the making between South Africa and the States, and I am very proud to put our name to this.’

The lead track on the album, ‘Grapevine’, is a slice of rolling electro-hop that glitches and twists, underneath their signature matter-of-fact rhyming.  This is quickly followed by ‘Better’ the twins musical nod to the progressive hip-hop of Rae Sremmurd & Chance The Rapper, which gives us a glimpse of the brothers’ growth beyond the suburbs of their youth. Second single ‘Cold Shoulder’ co-produced with SA’s Sketchy Bongo bounces it’s way into your head and goes round and round for days, as a great pop single should.  The title track, which underneath guest vocliast Roxy’s sultry refrain, hides a dark edge envoking the feelings of a Sunday morning come to soon.  The sun comes out for ‘Just Like Me’, which bubbles and scrapes before revealing itself as the self-effacing cousin of ‘Cold Shoulder’. There’s no time for sleep or chilling, as we go back to the club with ‘All For You’, ‘Santa Monica Drive’ and ’25’.  The phased vocals and electro-dub of ‘Golden Trinkets’ closes the loop. Hit repeat.

Through musical and social experimentation, this multi-platinum selling, award-winning electronic pop duo have expanded upon their musical legacy as they stare introspectively into their future.

Way Down We Go,” Kaleo’s current single, quickly ascended to the top 13 at Alternative radio having already lit up the top 10 at Triple A outlets nationwide. Called a “gritty, Jack White–esque blues-rock anthem” by Rolling Stone, the track “No Good” was first featured on “VINYL: MUSIC FROM THE HBO® ORIGINAL SERIES – VOLUME 1,” Atlantic Records’ first soundtrack companion to the blockbuster new HBO® series.  From there, “No Good” began getting airplay at Active Rock, and currently sits at #21 on that chart. The song’s companion video sees the Icelandic rock band performing live at the largest vinyl pressing facility in the country, Nashville’s famed United Record Pressing.

Cantrel is Neil Breytenbach (from Prime Circle) and ‘Panic’ features local rapper Velosity and vocalist Lauren Laing. The single was mixed and mastered in Germany, and the Alternative Electronic Pop song is a powerful release from the local star and grabs the listener from the first few seconds, turning them into a fan by the end of the song.

Listen to ‘Panic’ on iTunes: https://itunes.apple.com/za/album/panic-single/id1103207075

“’Panic’ was tracked at my Studio in KZN and I did all Beats, programming, instrumentation, composing, Producing and engineering. Whilst involving New Rap Sensation Velosity, I painted a vivid story board for him on the direction of the song. Velosity added his lyrical flavor & flo on the verses. The Verse of the Song relates directly more to the Panic & Anxiety of everyday life and the music Industry, and the Chorus has more of an uplifting happy feel good vibe to it. Hope you enjoy it!!!” explains Cantrel.
