Da King of African Rap is set to launch his new single titled Day One for the fans, in recognition of the support and overwhelming response to his current smash hit single Ngud’, which has maintained the #1 radio chart position in the country for 4 consecutive weeks.

The launch at Zonke 6 in Soweto will be streamed live on Saturday 28 May, 2016 and will also include the premier screening of the Day One music video movie.

 

Interestingly, both Kwesta and AKA’s careers started at more or less the same time with their debut albums being released only 6 months apart in September 2010 and March 2011 respectively, making this event a fitting tribute for all their day ones.  Day One is an ode to real friends who stick with you through all life’s ups and down.

 

Fast approaching Gold sales status, Kwesta’s DaKAR II (double album) continues to dominate the SA sales chart and the music video for Ngud’ is about to hit the 2million views milestone.

 

Kwesta has been involved in the recently launched SABC 1 rebrand campaign which comes to life through an original Television Commercial (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiBM5k3Mm1g) and the theme song / SABC 1 lifestyle soundtrack titled, Rite Now, composed specifically for the channel by Shugasmakx, featuring Kwesta, Fifi Cooper and Nasty C.

Elektra/Atlantic recording artist Kaleo have announced the release of their label debut album. “A/B” arrives on June 10th.  The band will celebrate the album’s arrival with a very special sold-out release day show at Los Angeles’s El Rey Theatre.

Stuart Reece’s My Sweet Lady

Stuart Reece releases his brand new feel-good single, My Sweet Lady, to SA Radio today. My Sweet Lady is the follow-up release to the hit singles Silver Rocket Cadillac and Coming Home, which saw Reece reach #1 on the Algoa Fm Top 30 and chart on radio stations across SA. The single is the 3rd track to be released from the ‘Broke Down Beat Down’ EP, which is out this week

My Sweet Lady pulls inspiration from that 60’s old school sound but with a fun modern twist. From the first beat the song grabs yours ears and with playful lyrics such as ‘She’s got me dancing, spinning me around and around and around…’ leaves hooks that will have fans dancing and singing along as quick as the song gets your feet tapping!

 

‘This is simply a feel good song about doing things you wouldn’t normally do to impress someone. In my case it was dancing, I never dance but found myself in a position where I was prepared to dance just to keep the attention of a beautiful woman. Aside from the lyrics, we tried to capture a song that people could literally shake their booties to, hence the 60’s drum groove and the brass section,’ explains Reece.

 

The Broke Down Beat Down EP and My Sweet Lady single will be released digitally this week and physical copies of the EP will be on sale at shows.

 

The Broke Down Beat Down EP will be launched with a tour which kicks off on 21 June at Café Roux in Cape Town and will make its way through the Western and Eastern Cape.
